Across the globe we are each experiencing our own unique nature cycles. Here in the southeast of the United States, spring is just starting to make its entrance. Cherry blossom branches are loaded with tiny pink flowers, cheery yellow daffodils are spreading their smiles, and the daylight hours are inching their way past dinnertime. Spring brings with it a building anticipation of what is to come. Those of us who have been hiding indoors from cold and darkness are itching to get outside and play. Barbecues, lounging by the pool, growing our own fresh vegetables –there is so much to be excited about! In these early days of spring Mother Nature often humbles us. She doesn’t just flick a switch and make it perfect weather. No, spring often arrives more like a jet making a bumpy landing. Sunny and sixty-five degrees one day, threats of evening frost the next. Howling winds and thrashing rain followed by a string of calm days with clear blue skies. While we may be tempted to complain or wish for instant, beautiful days, spring can be a good time to savor each moment as nature sheds its winter layers, showcasing the beauty that lies underneath. Everyday brings something new-pansies in bold bright colors, birds building nests in the trees, frogs singing their songs in the backyard pond. If we can mindful to slow down so we can watch, smell, listen and feel the shift of seasons, we may better embrace one of nature’s lessons-everything in life has its time, its season. Click the video below and enjoy the sound of the frogs at night in the pond down the road.
